Recently my daughter had a diaper rash that turned into Candida Albicans, which is a yeast infection. I had tried everything it seemed, but the rash would just not go away. I switched to disposables thinking it might be a sensitivity to detergent in my cloth diapers. I let her air out during the day as much as possible. I cut out fruit juices from her diet and most fruit except apples and bananas. I used only water-moistened cloth wipes to clean her with. I was still putting Weleda diaper cream on her at night. Which works great when it is just a normal diaper rash, but I was soon to find out that it doesn't work when it is a yeast infection. I knew I needed to put a anti-fungal cream of some sort on her to fight the infection. I learned this from my handy Prescription for Nutritional Healing book. My husband bought some
Tea Tree Oil Skin Ointment at Whole Foods. It helped a lot with the redness and the sores began to heal. It looked a whole lot better but wasn't completely gone.

I bought the
California Diaper Area Wash at Whole Foods and started using it to clean her during diaper changes. After a week things weren't getting worse, but they weren't getting better. Finally the thought occurred to me that the diaper cream might be hindering the healing in some way. So that is when I stopped the diaper cream and just put on the Tea Tree Oil cream exclusively, except for when she didn't have a diaper on and was "airing out". I just made sure I was changing her often so as to keep her bowel movements off of her bum as much as possible. I ran out of disposables last week and so I put her back in the cloth diapers. (I had stripped my diapers and switched back to Charlie's Soap as my diaper detergent. I will talk more about this at another time.)
So far so good! The redness is going down even more and the few sores that were there are healing. Praise the Lord! Needless to say, I have learned a great deal through this whole ordeal! :o)
